TOGETHER WE CAN!
Ms. Peek's Notes

Happy New Year! Our first week back has been great.  As we progress through the year, I want to remind you the importance of reading with your child.  Take 15-20 minutes each night to simply read.

We will celebrate hard work next week with classroom awards.

Now is the time to purchase a YEARBOOK!  $25.00

Lost & Found

We are beginning to find a lot of lost items throughout the building.  Please write your name on water bottles and jackets.  This helps us to return the items to the correct person.

Lunch Visitors

We welcome visitors during lunchtime.  Your visit is special to your child.  For this reason, you will be placed at a visitors table with seating for the two of you.  Please understand that if you choose to bring food from a restaurant, all wrappers must be removed and food placed in an unmarked container.  Feel free to grab a lunch tray and enjoy our cafeteria food.  Lunch trays are $5.50 and exact change is needed.  We will allow visitors in the lunchroom beginning on September 8th.  Students are not allowed to have cell phones during the school day.  Please understand that your child will not be allowed to use your phone during their lunch period.

Behavior & Lunch Detention

We are committed to providing a safe and positive learning environment for all students at Northfield. To ensure this, we occasionally need to address student behaviors that significantly disrupt the educational setting or pose a risk to the student or others.

Effective immediately, we are implementing lunch detention for students who would typically miss recess due to behavioral issues or incomplete assignments. This new system aims to provide a structured environment for students to address their responsibilities while adhering to state law regarding 40 minutes of unstructured activity.

While we always strive to work with students to improve their behavior through various strategies and interventions, there may be instances where a student's behavior escalates to a point where it is no longer safe or productive for them to remain in the classroom or at school. In such situations, we may need to ask you to pick up your child from school immediately.

This procedure is in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff, and to allow for a focused learning environment. We understand that picking up your child during the school day can be an inconvenience, and we will only make this request when absolutely necessary.

If you are contacted to pick up your child due to behavioral concerns, we will discuss the specific incidents with you and work together to develop a plan to address the behavior and support your child's success at school.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in upholding a positive and secure school environment for everyone.
